i went to a record sale at this old guys house
parked in an empty yard
i got out of my car & walked across the yard
then i saw a patch of dead grass
with a dog skeleton perfect in its own way
& i sent you a picture of it
and you said youd like to have the spine
but id already left by that time
in fact it had been quite a while
you said it half serious
in my car i figured youd think it was heroic
in a strange sort of way
then it started to rain really hard
and i felt kinda crazy doing this for someone
who doesnt even love me anymore
but i get there and ran thru the rain
to pick up that fucking dog spine
and i left knowing that it wasnt me who left
a beautiful death go unloved
